A Little 100 Day Progress

Here are a few more of my 100 day Project stamps. There have been more since I made this collage.

Also, I had to try a new technique for inject photo transfers on the gelliplate. It did not work. But, as long as I had the plate out, I did an image transfer with a photo I tore form one of my mother's old yearbooks. I can still get those to work.

More Block Printing on Fabric (Late to Publish...Sorry!)

I'm heading in a different direction than most of my fellow FS classmates. I'm envious of the beautiful and precise patterns that everyone is creating,  but I kind of like my loose scribble stamps too.

And More Fodder and Yet Another Blizzard Book

I watched the last three lessons and I played with gelliplate confetti fodder, painted and stenciled on transparencies,  and stamped on brayered papers. I have a pile of candy colored fodder and I'm ready for the July project.

I also made another book. This one was from the long scrap of wrapping paper left from the last book and measures about 2.5" by 3.5". It has double the number of pages because of the lengthe of the paper. I cut cards from some of my double sided 100 Day Project papers from 2022.

Insert Cards

June's project includes 14 insert cards...not sure, but I think they will go into pockets of a book we will be making. For some reason, I found this daunting. I had to watch Karen's video's twice before I was ready  to create these small paint collages, but I did it. Here are my 14 inset cards.

A Few More Days

I've passed the half way point of the 100 Day Project.

I bought a bottle of wine a while back, chosen because I liked the label, and the cork made me just as happy. So I made myself a necklace.

And today, after reading that 60s fashion icon Mary Quant had passed away, I made a stamp in her flower power honor. Rest in peace, Mary Quant.

Still Keeping Up

I'm up to date on The 100 Day Project.

And I'm keeping up with the Love Your Imperfect Letters 30 Day Challenge.

During all of this keeping up, I've been altering some old photos per Jane Chipp and today, I made a big mess, but I have Jane's book cover constructed and I spent way too much time trying to print old photos on tissue paper with very little success. I did find some translucent vellum and managed some prints on that.

Image Transfers

I have never pulled a successful image transfer form my gelliplate...umtil now!

I few days ago, Since I has pretty much caught up with Fodder School stuff, I thought I'd give it a try with the gelliplate tricks I've learned from several Fodder School teachers. And what did appear?!?!

Transferred images!

I was really excited. And then I pulled this one...

I was stunned! But after multiple attempts, I could not get anything else close to this. I was almost ready to call it a fluke but I got up this morning and gave it another shot, a patient, thoughtful attempt. And I got this...

I noted my process and made a couple more image transfer prints just to prove to myself that I could do it. And then I cleaned up my mess and put away my paint...and then I got it back out again to make a few more.

.Now, I swear, I'm done...for now.

Wrapping Paper

I made wrapping paper for Bill's Valentine gifts.

I've also continued to practice my "imperfect letters". I'm really enjoying practicing by copying some of Ron Padgett's' beautiful poetry from his new book, Dot. Copying the poems seems to make me feel them better.

Making Stamps

I've had these mini linoleum blocks for so long that they're brittle and really hard to carve, so I just put the sticky foam on them to make stamps. And the beauty is that I can use both sides...reversible stamps!

Paint Rollers

My foam sheets arrived today and I couldn't wait to get started. I made two rollers and had to try them out immediately.

Later, after deciding that I should use my gelliplate to roll out my paint, I dived into another session. I made a couple more rollers and started painting more papers. The gelliplate rolling works well because I can clean the plate by pulling a print. But then, the print I pull is begging for rolled on texture, so I have to put more paint on the clean plate...it's kind of an endless cycle.

Some of the papers that are rolled onto gelliplate prints are my favorites.

December Lessons: More Gelliprinting

Wendy is giving us lots of breathing room this month as December is so busy for many of us. I managed to get our Christmas tree up along with lights and decorations. So now I have time to play.

I set some time aside for gelliplate printing today. Now, I'm debating investing in a larger plate.

Here are my prints...the ones that cover the entire paper as instructed.

Here are my brayer papers...

And here are some of the yummy details...

Almost Finished

I came home from my fabulous, fun filled trip to NYC and jumped right back into my Fodder School stuff. I watched all of Drew's videos...then watched a couple again and then started gluing papers.

I have a huge mess, and I've chopped into some of my favorite fodder, but my first board book is almost done.

And More Printing

I'm going to have to stop for a few days as I am heading to NYC for a few days. It's the trip that Covid 19 cancelled in 2020. I am finally visiting my friend, Dan, for a few days.

But I had to print a few more papers first.

I did some neutrals...

I cut some stencils...

and printed this...

and the next morning, while on a walk, I saw this!

Later, I watched Wendy's bonus videos and decided I should try some more subtle papers...

I'll think I'll have plenty of fodder with which to work when I return from the Big Apple and jump into Drew's November Fodder School project.

Printing...Again

I just can't seem to stop. I may need a gelliplate intervention.

I thought I was done for the day, and now, I'm cleaning up after a batch of more neutral prints. .

And More Printing

I started out layering the papers an made these Valentine-y prints.

Then, I started to experiment with layering the paint on the gelliplate.

I can't stop printing! And I have to continually remind myself that these are not finished pieces. I am making these to use in other work.

Gelliplate Printing

This month in Fodder School 2, Drew Steinbrecher is sharing some of his gelliplate techniques. I love learning what one can do with this piece of Flubber.

Batch of Neutrals

Today, I decided to do a gelliplate batch of neutrals. I think I'm becoming less and less intimidated by my gelliplate.

And Even More Fodder

Yesterday, I quit mixing colors and I quit attempting to limit my palette.  My papers were all over the place.

I love them! I wish they were my clothes and I could wear them.

Today, after a quick inventory of all of my fodder for this month, I decided I needed more blue.

And I've been consumed with John Lurie's memoir, A History of Bones. I caught this book on some list or another, and honestly, I had never heard of John Lurie. Now, I'm watching his films, and listening to his music, and I have discovered Painting with John on HBO.

Needless to say, I had no choice but to sit quietly and begin to cover a sheet of watercolor paper with squares of color. It is truly one of the most calming things I've ever done.

More Fodder

I keep loading my boards with deli paper and slopping on a background for another round for mark making. I'm accumulating quite a stack of crispy thin papers. Today, after a layer of color dried, I layered on more with my gelliplate. And then my button fern got a little clipping and I played with botanicals.

I love working on this gelliplate. If I don't like my results, I add another layer...and another, until I get something that I do like.

Fodder School 2 Has Begun!

Since the beginning of October, after watching Rebecca Sower's lessons, I have become a fodder making machine!

Today, I was doing some more experimenting with the seagull feathers I picked up at the beach last week. I feel as though I hit the monoprint jackpot with this one.

I even wrote down, step by step, how I did it...so not like me.
