A Little 100 Day Progress

Here are a few more of my 100 day Project stamps. There have been more since I made this collage.

Also, I had to try a new technique for inject photo transfers on the gelliplate. It did not work. But, as long as I had the plate out, I did an image transfer with a photo I tore form one of my mother's old yearbooks. I can still get those to work.

Busy Few Days

I never feel busy but I'm creating. I finished the little memorials for my mom and dad.

They are beautiful, if I'm allowed to say that about my own work.

I've also stumbled across a group in my own community making big papier mache puppets. So I reminded myself of my very limited comfort zone, and then drove over to the Friendship Park Community Center to help. I've been back three times and am now hoping making big papier mache heads goes on forever.

And, of course, there's September Fodder School. I have yet to watch any of the lessons from Yetunde Rodriguez, but I jumped into the stamp making this morning. I promised myself that I would watch the lessons before I went any further.

A Family Portrait

Still playing with this idea...I thought it they would make fun gifts. But this one feels off somehow. I'm in the process of working through another on a smaller scale.

I'm also on Day 61 of The 100 Day Project.

I almost forgot...I pulled out a couple of my gelliplates to make sure I can still pull an image transfer.  Delighted that I can, but only from magazine/book photos. I so want to be able to use my own photos but I cannot get laser prints or inkjet prints to work. The YouTube videos make it look so easy, but, alas, I've had no luck.

More July Fodder and Another Book

I watched a few more videos and created more fodder...this time it's gelliplate confetti and stenciling on transparencies. I'm amassing quite a pile of goodies for the July project  And I still have another lesson to watch.

I also put pencil to paper in an attempt to calculate the dimensions to fold a blizzard book to hold 4" by 6" photos. When it occurred to me that I had wrapping paper long enough and wide enough, I had to try it. The page size was a success! However, the paper is a bit delicate, and I had no idea how to calculate the cover size. So I did a regular book board cover with a spine.

Image Transfers

I have never pulled a successful image transfer form my gelliplate...umtil now!

I few days ago, Since I has pretty much caught up with Fodder School stuff, I thought I'd give it a try with the gelliplate tricks I've learned from several Fodder School teachers. And what did appear?!?!

Transferred images!

I was really excited. And then I pulled this one...

I was stunned! But after multiple attempts, I could not get anything else close to this. I was almost ready to call it a fluke but I got up this morning and gave it another shot, a patient, thoughtful attempt. And I got this...

I noted my process and made a couple more image transfer prints just to prove to myself that I could do it. And then I cleaned up my mess and put away my paint...and then I got it back out again to make a few more.

.Now, I swear, I'm done...for now.

Paint Rollers

My foam sheets arrived today and I couldn't wait to get started. I made two rollers and had to try them out immediately.

Later, after deciding that I should use my gelliplate to roll out my paint, I dived into another session. I made a couple more rollers and started painting more papers. The gelliplate rolling works well because I can clean the plate by pulling a print. But then, the print I pull is begging for rolled on texture, so I have to put more paint on the clean plate...it's kind of an endless cycle.

Some of the papers that are rolled onto gelliplate prints are my favorites.

December Lessons: More Gelliprinting

Wendy is giving us lots of breathing room this month as December is so busy for many of us. I managed to get our Christmas tree up along with lights and decorations. So now I have time to play.

I set some time aside for gelliplate printing today. Now, I'm debating investing in a larger plate.

Here are my prints...the ones that cover the entire paper as instructed.

Here are my brayer papers...

And here are some of the yummy details...

And More Printing

I'm going to have to stop for a few days as I am heading to NYC for a few days. It's the trip that Covid 19 cancelled in 2020. I am finally visiting my friend, Dan, for a few days.

But I had to print a few more papers first.

I did some neutrals...

I cut some stencils...

and printed this...

and the next morning, while on a walk, I saw this!

Later, I watched Wendy's bonus videos and decided I should try some more subtle papers...

I'll think I'll have plenty of fodder with which to work when I return from the Big Apple and jump into Drew's November Fodder School project.

Printing...Again

I just can't seem to stop. I may need a gelliplate intervention.

I thought I was done for the day, and now, I'm cleaning up after a batch of more neutral prints. .

And More Printing

I started out layering the papers an made these Valentine-y prints.

Then, I started to experiment with layering the paint on the gelliplate.

I can't stop printing! And I have to continually remind myself that these are not finished pieces. I am making these to use in other work.

Gelliplate Printing

This month in Fodder School 2, Drew Steinbrecher is sharing some of his gelliplate techniques. I love learning what one can do with this piece of Flubber.

October Project: Collage

After making more than 100 papers, I sorted them by value, and then chose five or six to get started on my October project. Here are my initial layers...

Now, I have to watch a few more lessons while these dry.

Batch of Neutrals

Today, I decided to do a gelliplate batch of neutrals. I think I'm becoming less and less intimidated by my gelliplate.

And Even More Fodder

Yesterday, I quit mixing colors and I quit attempting to limit my palette.  My papers were all over the place.

I love them! I wish they were my clothes and I could wear them.

Today, after a quick inventory of all of my fodder for this month, I decided I needed more blue.

And I've been consumed with John Lurie's memoir, A History of Bones. I caught this book on some list or another, and honestly, I had never heard of John Lurie. Now, I'm watching his films, and listening to his music, and I have discovered Painting with John on HBO.

Needless to say, I had no choice but to sit quietly and begin to cover a sheet of watercolor paper with squares of color. It is truly one of the most calming things I've ever done.

More Fodder

I keep loading my boards with deli paper and slopping on a background for another round for mark making. I'm accumulating quite a stack of crispy thin papers. Today, after a layer of color dried, I layered on more with my gelliplate. And then my button fern got a little clipping and I played with botanicals.

I love working on this gelliplate. If I don't like my results, I add another layer...and another, until I get something that I do like.
