More Watercolor and Another Box

I can't seem to stop with the meditative watercolor stuff. Maybe I should just sign up for the class.

I also managed to finish another Fodder School collaged box.

Finished Fodder

My June papers have been gathered, marked, plastered, and dyed. Now, I'm ready to do the box.

I made a cool video but, once again, I am unable to upload it.

Back to Fodder School

I watched the Stephanie Lee Fodder School June lessons; yes, I'm very late to the party. And I started by playing with the plaster mixture on a variety of papers.

A few days later, while gardening,  I decided I needed some small supports for the plants I put in our big pots. So I made some from sticks I picked up in the yard.

Tonight, I made some marks on my plastered papers.

A Little Late

I finally used all of my tea bag fodder to create the March Fodder School accordion book. I struggled a bit because I didn't bother to watch the lessons...I probably should have. But...

I have been struggling a bit to keep working with the current state of things.  I think this turned out fairly well. (I also made a cool video instead of this photo collage but, as usual, it failed to upload properly.)

And, I also made an Irish soda bread...first time ever. It looks really bumpy but tasted wonderful!

Playing with Dyed Papers

Continuing on with March Fodder School, I'm playing with my dyed tea bags and coffee filters...stamping, painting, drawing, doodling.

And, I'm keeping up with The 100 Day Project...

March Fodder School

I watched the first few videos for March Fodder School and then dyed some tea bag papers and coffee filters as instructed by Leaca Young.

I've also been keeping up with The 100 Day Project....pictures of my stamps will be coming soon.

Another Book

I may have skipped the February Fodder School classes because I wasn't in the mood to draw doll faces but I wasn't completely idle. I really enjoyed Liz Constable's January lessons so I made another book...cover and pages are all made from upcycling one of my mother's old high school year books.

I filled it with my faux Polaroids. I had a great video to post but the computer is not cooperating with Blogger tonight.

I also decided to do The 100 Day Project...made my decision today, the start date, to make 100 faux postage stamps. here's 1/100...

One More Book

I know we're moving on to February lessons but I'm still hanging back and making one more book. This time, I'm using one of my mother's old yearbooks. Cover is done and I'm working on mastersheets for the pages.

Folios into a Book...January Project Done!

I measured and calculated to tear my mastersheets into foglios with no scrap and still get a decent size for a book.
I planned on making two books, and I was a bit limited by the size of the boards I was using for covers. Two books with what I had for pages felt a little sparse. I wished I'd made a couple more mastersheets.

In the end, I crammed them into one really chunky book full of delicious fodder that, apparently,  I'm to tear into to actually use.

Monstersheets and Some Cooking

I've created two mastersheets that are about 36" by 24"...monstersheets. I even experimented with gesso transfers. I think I'm ready to tear these into pages.

And, I tried a new recipe...sticky sesame cauliflower. It looks delicious but was a bit too tangy. I'll have to make some adjustments.

Finally!

I managed to get a little bit of Fodder school in for December...some woodgrain experiments with the gelliplate....thanks to Sally Hirst .

And I'm working on big mastersheets for January Fodder School with Liz Constable. My first is done. It's about 36" by 24". I can't wait to tear into this for book pages.

More Books

I made a few more mastersheets and then made more books. Now, I'm stuck, waiting to have a backyard burn so I can "age" some tins.

And I started gluing fodder scraps to my Kindle cover. This feels like a perpetual work in progress.

Mastersheets and a Book

I combined pieces of my eco-dyed papers into several master sheets...

And then I cut them into pages for a book to fit in a tin.

I had a video but Blogger isn't cooperating right now so here are a few photos...

Altered Photos, Sigils, and an Enso

I tried all of Jack's photo altering techniques, and combined a few. I can't walk by my work table without messing with a photo.

I finally moved on to the sigils. Jack's demonstration used positive affirmations and I started with those. But then I went to the dark side...it was cathartic.  It's a great way to say the things I'm feeling after this election. Can't wait to use some in a few greeting cards to a few special people.

I also followed Jack's lesson and made an ensō. I absolutely love it.

Life Goes On

I'm trying to stay in the now, and I'm trying to keep my heart open. That's all I can do right now. And I'm keeping busy. Creating helps.

I jumped into the most involved of Jack Ravi's lessons and created bundles of papers to dye. I loved the look of my bundles and I had very low expectations for color...I was very heavy handed with the turmeric.

Opening the wet bundles and trying to find space to lay my soggy papers out to dry was challenging, but I did it. And when the papers were dry and the dust brushed away, I was amazed. It was like being back in college, pulling pottery out of a raku firing and hoping for flashes of beautiful color.

I wanted to start more bundles immediately but I knew that there were more Jack Ravi lessons to try and I am moving on some of his photo altering techniques.

Election Anxiety Projects

I, like millions of others, can hardly wait for this election to be over. I am suffering from the worst election anxiety I've ever experienced.

I started rolling paper beads to deal with it. By Tuesday, I should have quite a stash.

This morning, after rolling beads, I thought I'd try to replicate the scrappy scarf I bought last year at an art fair but with my own scraps of black, white, and cream fabrics. I'm pretty pleased with it!
