Catching Up

I finished six little cat houses! For a project that initially caused my to roll my eyes a bit, it sure was fun. And it yielded some great little "cat houses".

It's getting close to the day of my parents' cremains interment. Before their ashes are interred, I wanted to make some little memorials.

August Fodder School Project

Admittedly, I was not excited about making little houses with Alison Bomber and I was even less excited looking at my fellow students' finished projects...the berry motif made everyone's little houses look exactly the same. I managed  to make the fodder and I fiddled around drawing some dragonflies and stamping some bees but nothing really appealed to me.  Then, I decided to use the Instax photos I took of Sadie...the ones I've wasted so much film on....and then, I was excited.

Now, the very project I thought I didn't like has become one of my favorites.

Work in Progress

I'm working on a batch of cats for another accordion book. Trying to take my time on these. I tend to work frantically when I get excited about a project...can't wait to see the finished product.

A Bit of This and That

I doodled on an old flying cat today. He's a work in progress.

Bill needed to borrow some of my tools so while I was out in the garage watching/protecting my stuff, I wired up a little old globe I found in my dad's basement.  It looks great on the porch.

And while I had my tools in hand, I made a pair of earrings with my Shrinky Dinks.

Earrings and a Cat

Just when I think my anxiety level cannot get any higher, it does. I headed to the bench tofay to see if I could feel a little better. I made some earrings, and then another cat tool necklace. I think I need more time at the bench...a lot more time.

Thursday and Friday

Yesterday I did another larger (bigger than a postcard) collage with no plan at all.  The Line Up turned out okay.

Thursday

Tonight , I did a fast postcard so that I could make a cocktail and head outside to enjoy the evening.  I actually have a plan for a piece tomorrow,  which may not be so great.  I don't seem to do as well with a plan.

Paper Dolls

The paper doll idea seem good but I think it got out of my control.  I did this in a larger format because I was running out of blank postcards (... of course,  I didn't consider  cutting my own!)  and as I was finishing,  I found my last pack.  Maybe this is a good time to clean my workspace again.

Another Set of Fraternal Twins

My fraternal twins postcard, one of my favorites, was mailed weeks ago. Since I've been working on a few larger than postcard sized collages,  I wanted to do another fraternal twins image.  I was thinking of it late last night when I couldn't sleep  (refreshing to lose sleep because of too many ideas rather than obsessive worry about nothing!)  and this morning,  one of the networks aired a short segment on Chuck Close.

Mr. Close said one does not need inspiration...one just needs to get up everyday and work and, and if necessary,  do the same thing as the day before,  and keep doing it,  and eventually something will happen.  (Okay, this is just what I,  personally,  heard from Chuck Close.)  He gave me permission to revisit and revamp images that I have done already...because eventually,  they will be where I want them to be.

As for my second image of fraternal twins...I think I liked the first one better.  I started this with a much darker,  heavier background,  and cluttered it up with all of the elements from other images that I felt were successful....a little too much.  But it is kind of growing on me.  By morning, I may like it.

Asparagus

Another larger image...and I made asparagus soup today,  so this just took it one step further.

A Little More Room

Yesterday I made a postcard.

Yesterday

But today, because I have been feeling a little limited by my 6" by 4" surface,  I actually expanded...just a little.  (...can't move too quickly lest I become intimidated and discouraged!)   I masked off 8" by 5.5" and went with what I knew.  (I know,  a bit of a cop out,  but I need to move slowly.)

And One More...

I promise....this is the last of them....well,  unless I come across another Garnet Hill catalog.

Could've Skipped It Tonight....

Unseasonably warm evening...I sure could have skipped it tonight. Bill even suggested I do a "Free Pass" card, which isn't a bad idea. But, before I changed my clothes and headed outside with a cocktail, I took the time to make a card.

This kind of discipline is so not me.

Idea faeries...or fireflies?

Stuck for an Idea

Think and think and think...and sometimes something will finally come to you....

Beautiful Evening

Ha!  It's a beautiful evening,  I'm done with my card,  and there's still time for a stroll.

A Couple of Difficult Days

The last two days, it's been more difficult. I really had to fight with myself to get something going. This was even more evident today....but I did it.

I am starting to feel like I need a little bit more space. (This was after struggling to fill a 4" by 6" postcard!) Maybe I'll cut some papers and set them aside for the days that I am not so pressed for time.

Not my best effort, but I do think I'm slightly feverish....

I struggled to get started and struggled to finish yesterday's card. Today, I had a great time.

Triplets

After 50 days in a row, I allowed myself to buy a few new supplies. (My usual MO is to buy tons of stuff  and then become paralyzed and do nothing.) This time, I was actually running out of some things.
